Northern House have continued to uphold a strong presence in day-to-day life at DLD College London. The students have continued to thrive within both their academic studies as well as their co-curricular activities. The House points have continued to accumulate thanks to their efforts and Northern House have managed to maintain first place position on the House Leaderboard for this half term! The Bronze certificates for achieving 50 house points have been coming in thick and fast for Northern House students and Amir Ali in year 11 was the first to achieve the Silver certificate for achieving 100 house points!
The house competitions have continued with students being eager to represent their House. Just before the Christmas break, we had the House ping pong tournament where Aryan in year 13 won first place after being unbeaten by all other houses. After returning from the Christmas break we had the house debating tournament where students from each house worked hard to argue their side on a number of contentious topics that are being faced by the world today. With multiple rounds of fierce debate our Northern House representatives came out in joint 3rd place with Jubilee House and Nima from year 14 was awarded with best speaker for the House.
Northern house students have also demonstrated their academic prowess with Ivy and Amir Ali from year 11 having recently undertaken the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge which they both did exceptionally well in. Northern House students are also showing their community spirit and have chosen Battersea Cats and Dogs Home as the charity that they will be fundraising for this term. I am looking forward to enjoying the bake sales and movie nights to help raise money for a worthy cause. I am very proud of what the Northern House students have achieved so far this term and I look forward to seeing what they have in store for the rest of the academic year!
