Student Interview: Petya

8th March 23

Earlier this year, we caught up with Deputy Head of School, Petya who shared her experience of life at DLD College London, the variety of co-curricular activities and the leadership opportunities available at the school.

On boarding at DLD:

“Our boarding system is quite flexible and welcoming for everyone. We have house parents who take care of our pastoral health, with 24/7 availability to help and support you with anything you need”.

“We also have boarding trips…for example last week we went to The Lion King, ice skating, escape rooms and go-karting which are all very entertaining for us”.

The pastoral care of our students is a key strength of the school, having been judged ‘Excellent’ for personal development in the 2019 ISI inspection. Student wellbeing is really important to us – happy children succeed in life. You can find more information about our award-winning pastoral care and well-being support for students here.

What Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are available at DLD?

“We have more than 50 co-curricular activities at DLD. Last year I did DLD news and DLD podcast as well as the film and media society. For sports I decided to do boxing and I also did band club where I could sing and perform the piano.”

“It’s not just boxing we offer, we also have football, crossfit in the gym, yoga classes, pilates…and for creatives there is also a wide range of opportunities like art, music and drama”.

Our CCAs support students’ learning outside their core studies through chosen subjects that they have a keen interest in. Find out more about what a CCA is, the benefits and full range available at DLD.

Leadership development at DLD:

“At DLD, we have leadership opportunities for everyone, we have student council roles which can be academic, charity, wellbeing, community and events. We have roles in the student council as heads and deputy heads as well as prefects. We also have other leadership opportunities like the house leaders, tutor group representatives and the food committee. Here at DLD, you’re able to explore all of your talents and have an opportunity to be a leader in this World”.
