Lower School Art Competition Winners

26th March 21

Congratulations to Year 11 GCSE Art & Design student Kate who has won a Lower School Art Competition for the 2nd half of the Spring Term. Her digital paintings, which she produced while working online, portray contrasting behaviour of people towards nature. She depicts how we take care of our gardens and sometimes help nature to grow, but at other times we destroy it to make cities which look grey, unpleasant and suffocating without many signs of nature.

She explains: ‘In this idea I want the viewer to look at the grey, unpleasant reality of St. Petersburg in Russia and all the other similar capitals of the first world countries. This place had once been the home of birds and other animals. Once this area was full of trees, fields, swamps and forests, but now only parks are left as a reminder of nature where the animals cannot survive.’

Another congratulation goes to two Year 11 GCSE Art & Design students, Noelle and Aryan, who are sharing a second place in the competition: Noelle for her excellent drawing of the human addiction to money, as well as her fine art photographs of the addiction to glamorous objects such as jewellery; and Aryan for his imaginative artworks of humans being negatively affected by and destroyed by robots.
