25th June 21
This was the second week of our summer enrichment programme which was centred around exploring London. Following on from last week’s aspirational week, our Head of UCAS, Daniel Woodley, led trips to a variety of London-based universities, such as King’s and UCL. Students were keen to explore what London has to offer them and visits to the Science Museum, Bletchley Park, Kenwood House, Freud museum and the BFI Imax were all well attended. The Art Department led a trip to Marangoni to explore the range of progression routes that they offer and students were very impressed. It was great to see everyone taking full advantage of what this vibrant and amazing city has to offer.
We also had a variety of workshops for students to attend including disability inclusion training and volunteering. Media students were treated to a day of industry preparation with workshops on writing a CV, gaining work experience opportunities, and learning how to build a creative portfolio, which was presented by Salome Penteado from the London Film Academy. This week concluded with the DLD Graduation and our BTEC Media students managed the livestream of the event which was incredibly well attended.
Next week, students are spending three days working on a specific project. They have over eight different workshops to choose from, including film making, journalism, theatre and practical science workshops. This will be a really exciting way to end the year.
