World Book Day 2017

For World Book Day this year, DLD College London were lucky enough to welcome back Russell Frost. Russell runs his own letterpress print and design company, Hooksmith Press, based in the East End of London.
Throughout the morning, Russell was stationed in the atrium. In our wall-to-wall digitalised world, it was a real privilege seeing a traditional craftsman like him hand-set typeface, roll on ink and operate the press. Many students (and some members of staff) went home with beautiful letterpress prints bearing this year’s buzzwords “fake news” and “alternative facts”. Last year’s buzzword was Brexit, showing just what can happen in a year!
Hopefully, for next year’s World Book Day we’ll be able to welcome Russell back. Who knows what that year’s buzzword will be.
