2nd November 26
25 of our Year 12 and Year 13 BTEC Business students attended the Festival of Apprenticeships at the Kia Oval. The trip aimed to broaden students’ awareness of post-18 pathways beyond university, particularly higher and degree apprenticeships that combine paid work with recognised qualifications.
Students explored stands from a wide range of employers and training providers, asked questions about entry requirements, application processes and day-to-day roles, and gained a clearer picture of how apprenticeships can lead to the same professional destinations as a degree, without student debt. For many, it was their first direct conversation with recruiters, and it was encouraging to see them engage confidently and take away information on opportunities relevant to their interests.
The visit links closely to their BTEC studies, particularly Unit 8 (Recruitment and Selection Process), giving them real-world insight into how organisations attract and select talent. We hope it will help students make well-informed decisions about their next steps.
