Music and Drama students from DLD College London took a trip to the New London Theatre, Drury Lane on Thursday 26th January 2017 to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s critically acclaimed musical School of Rock. The new musical, based on the renowned film with the same name from 2003 starring Jack Black, is about an aspiring musician who poses as a supply teacher forming a rock band with the prep school’s young students, showcased the talented cast’s skills as they delighted the audience with their energetic performance. There was even an announcement to confirm that the younger cast members (whose aged ranged from 8-11 years old) were all playing their instruments and singing the show’s songs, which contained 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was apparent by comments made after the show, that DLD students enjoyed the performance and appreciated the experience.
