Talented members of DLD College London’s choir bought an extra dash of magical festive sprit to this year’s Marylebone High Street Christmas Lights Switch On.
A group of festive-spirited students from the leading Marylebone-based independent college who were in full voice on Wednesday evening (20 November) as they took to the stage and supported this year’s special guest, TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, who led the final countdown to the lighting of the high street’s stunning display.
Students from the college’s music department impressed the crowd with an assured performance during the ‘after lighting party’ on the High Street as part of a magical and packed day of traditional festivities with the local area transformed into a winter wonderland featuring street performers, food stalls, mulled wine, a grotto, Christmas Markets and much more.
DLD College London Principal Rachel Borland commented: “We were honoured to once again be invited by the Howard de Walden Estate to take part in such a wonderful community event which is a firm favourite of our students.
“The newly illuminated high street provided the perfect backdrop to their performance and we are very thankful for the excellent reception the students received from the local community during this spirited celebration.”
Amongst the talented singers on stage was student Sophie Simonds, aged 17, who lives in Chiswick.
Sophie, who is currently studying A-Levels in Biology, Music Technology, Music and Physics, commented: “I thoroughly enjoyed performing at the Christmas Lights Switch On as the High Street looks absolutely stunning.
“It was a pleasure to play to such a wonderful community crowd and the perfect way to welcome in the festive season.”
