The UKMT Math Club has had a successful launch, bringing together students from Year 9 – 13 who are eager to engage with challenging mathematical problems and competitions. The club has created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and curiosity, as students dive into problem-solving sessions and prepare for upcoming UKMT challenges. Our first competition was on the 25th of September, The Mathematical Olympiad for Girls, followed by our Senior Mathematical Challenge 1st of October 2024.
The collaborative environment encourages teamwork and creative thinking, helping students to build confidence in their mathematical abilities while having fun. The club’s launch has also attracted a growing number of participants, highlighting its positive impact on the school community.
Leading the club is Andrei, a Year 13 student who has taken on the role of mentor and guide. His passion for mathematics and dedication to helping others have been instrumental in fostering a supportive and motivating space. Under Andrei’s leadership, students feel inspired to push their boundaries and take on more advanced problems, with his approachable style making complex topics feel more accessible. Andrei’s guidance is key to the club’s early success, and his role as a leader I believe will help to cultivate a new generation of young mathematicians within the school.
Everyone from the DLD Mathematics Department wishes the best of luck to the 29 talented DLD students preparing to sit the renowned UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge! This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning on a national stage. As they tackle the challenging questions ahead, we hope they remain confident and focused, trusting in the hard work and dedication they’ve put into their preparation. Wishing all of them success and the satisfaction of achieving their personal best in this highly esteemed” competition!”
