6th October 23
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The start of October marks the beginning of Black History Month. At DLD, diversity is very much at the heart of the school, with over 60 nationalities among our student body, we ensure that all backgrounds are celebrated as part of the inclusive culture we foster at the school as part of our day-to-day, all year round. To mark this important month, Harris Elliott, a lecturer at the Royal College of Art and Central St Martins, University of the Arts London will be visiting next week to discuss his exhibition, ‘The MIssing Thread’ currently on display at Somerset House. The exhibition evokes themes of history, culture and design particularly around Black British fashion.
In FTP live this week, Matin from the Student Wellbeing Team took to the mic to let the college community know their plans for Mental Health Day which is on Tuesday 10th October 2023. This event is focused on raising awareness as to the different resources available to DLD College students to support their wellbeing and the student will be displaying this all day in the Atrium. In addition to this, the student council will be launching their Wellbeing Drop in schedule and their Wellbeing Mentoring Scheme. Thanks to Matin, Ali and Diba for promoting this really important event!
Finally, I’d like to mark National Teacher’s Day yesterday (Thursday 5th October) and take a moment to thank all of the teaching staff at DLD College London for their commitment and all the work they do to support our students. They do a tremendous job and continually go above and beyond to make DLD a great place to learn. Thank You!
I hope you have a restful weekend!
