Traditional Burns Night Festivities

28th January 23

The 25th of January is an important date for Scots all over the world and here at DLD College London, we marked it in style. Our Global Kitchen put together a fabulous Burns Supper spread, with the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties on offer, along with (whisky free) cranachan. Before tucking into these, Piper, Ryan Anderson,  treated us to a few tunes on the Scottish Bagpipes and our Principal, Irfan, recited the Selkirk Grace and explained the history of the evening.

Introducing our students to a variety of cultural experiences is a high priority in our school and it was fantastic for me to have an opportunity to share some traditions from my home country. I really enjoyed seeing their reactions to having a live piper create the fantastic atmosphere, almost as much as I enjoyed seeing some of their faces when they found out what was in the haggis they’d just tasted!
