The River Thames outside DLD College London

From the Principal #160

4th November 22

Lauren Moors, Assistant Principal (Academic)

Arriving on Monday this week, it would be hard to believe DLD College London was a school coming back from a half term break. The Atrium was bustling with Halloween excitement, spooky outfits were in full flow and, at the business end of the school, examinations were, and remain, in full swing for some students. It is fair to say DLD is an environment that never stops. A huge good luck to those students who have sat or are sitting public examinations this November, but also well done to those who have completed their university entrance tests. Thanks goes to our Examinations Team and University Admissions Tutors, who continue to work tirelessly; supporting our students as they prepare to make their first step into further education.

With that in mind, this month becomes a very busy time for all of us here at DLD. Our International Foundation Programme students are preparing for their December examinations and many of those studying other courses have the reality of their coursework deadlines beckoning. November is a time to foster habits and to provoke our students’ intentions for the year, setting out what they want to achieve academically and what opportunities they want to make the most of here at DLD. It’s a long, important push to the December break and it is pleasing to see them buckle up for the challenge ahead.

As we enter this full-on month, I urge students to make the most of the excellent pastoral support on offer to them. Not just from our brilliant House system in the form of their Tutors and HouseMasters/Mistresses, but also our exceptional Student Council and Wellbeing Team.  Through great process, we achieve exceptional outcomes.

Best Wishes,

Lauren
