DLD Dragons Den

28th January 22

Last week, the IFP Business and Economics students were given a brief to decide on a viable business that would be suitable for vacant premises on Lower Marsh, our local high street and to present their business proposals to our Dragons Den.

Students were split into five groups and tasked with researching the market, producing financial information, developing a marketing campaign, continency planning and assessing the impact that external factors could have on their business. Each group pitched their idea to the Dragons last Friday – looking for an investment of £60,000.

The Dragons grilled each group and scrutinised all aspects of their business plans. All of the groups managed the pressure and were able to give confident and clear answers which impressed the Dragons. The competition was fierce, and students left no stone unturned in their pursuit for investment.

The five business proposals the Dragons had to choose from were:
• FreeVise: a social work/ study space
• Lower Marsh Boat Service: a private boat and lunch service
• Onca: a mobile Brazilian coffee shop
• Ichiraku Ramen: a ramen noodle bar
• Crepe and Bubble: a bubble tea and cake café

Well done to all involved, I have no doubt that our students will be coming to a boardroom near you in the future.
