IELTS exam day report

9th December 21

Despite the dark and gloomy start to the day, the sun began to break through the clouds, brightening up the surroundings. The welcome warmth and light complemented the mood and atmosphere in the College Atrium, even at such an early hour. It was only 7am, yet the students continued to arrive, a sense of anticipation and excitement building. Their positivity and calm were almost tangible. The occasion? The first sitting of their IELTS exam! We, as their teachers, and I, as Head of Department, could not have been prouder of them. They were all punctual, arriving with the correct writing materials and ready for the long day ahead.

The walk to the coaches transporting us to the exam centre (the first sitting is offsite) was, and always is, a memorable one, the sense of camaraderie and community second to none. Any onlookers could have mistaken us for a group embarking on some exciting trip, such was the assuredness and good humour of students and teachers alike.

The students conducted themselves impeccably, true ambassadors for the College, and we hope they will achieve the results they so deserve.

Wishing all our students a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Christalla Mavroudis, Head of Academic English & the Academic English Department
