Yasmiin Wins National Shakespeare Competition

13th April 21

Talented A level Drama student, Yasmiin Noelani Faraon-Ortiz is celebrating a much-coveted first-place award in the prestigious, national Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) Shakespeare Monologue Competition, making this the second year in a row that a DLD student has won this award.

Yasmiin achieved the desirable academic accolade for her emotive recital ‘We’re Home’, a monologue inspired by the renowned play Troilus and Cressida, written by William Shakespeare in 1602. For her entry into the category ‘Original Monologue’, Yasmiin was required to create an original piece based on a Shakespeare character and film her performance.

Yasmiin is no stranger to performing, having shared the role of main character Rosalind in the school’s last production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’.

Helena Chowdhury-Westlake also received a certificate of participation for her entry into the Shakespeare Monologue category (as seen below).
