Artwork of the Month for November

30th November 20

The artwork of the month is an A1 dry pastel drawing by Year 12 A Level Art student Cecilia (Cici). November is the month of Christmas preparations when shop windows display Christmas decorations and everyone is slowly preparing for a festive season. Cici regularly sees homeless people in the area she lives in and is concerned by the increasing number of people who sleep on the street, despite the pandemic and lower temperatures. She decided to portray their loneliness and isolation in her artwork on the theme ‘Picture into my world’.

She says: ‘In society today we are faced with people that are less privileged than us and I think it is really important to take responsibility and acknowledge that not everyone is lucky in life. I think being homeless is one of the harshest things in life to face as you are utterly alone.’

Her drawing is displayed between the rooms 1.72 and 1.74.
