DLD Alumni wins place at world eminent Berklee

14th May 20

DLD College London alumni, Jonathan Henrich, has been offered a place to study Music at Berklee, the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world. Famous alumni include the titan Quincy Jones, film and TV composers (The Simpsons, Miami Vice), rock superstars (Aerosmith and Imagine Dragons) plus generations of important jazz stars.

Jonathan left DLD last year after studying A level music and will transfer in September from the LA College of Music where he is currently studying Composition & Songwriting which he says was a great choice as he’s learned so much and developed his musical ability immensely.  In addition to his offer from Berklee, Jonathan also succeeded in securing a place at the Institute of Contemporary Music in London but has decided to stay in the US for now.

Whilst living in Los Angeles, Jonathan has met some influential people who he has started collaborations with including the songwriter Zac Poor who works with the likes of Carl Falk (Top 4 Songwriter of the Year in 2012), Jason Derulo, The Backstreet Boys, Tori Kelly, Kelly Clarkson and The Jonas Brothers to name a few! In addition he is currently working on two songs with a producer who did the sound engineering for the Oscars after party, which will soon be available on iTunes and Spotify.

“The last couple months were crazy! Not even a year ago I was still at DLD, finishing my A-Levels in music and enjoying London. (A time that I truly miss). Not even a year later I’ve already spent 5 months in Los Angeles working with some of the top people in the music industry. For example, I’m having my first single produced by someone who did sound engineering for the Oscars. On top of that I’ll transfer to one of the best Music Colleges in the world in September.”

Jonathan has played the piano since he was a small child and also plays the guitar and sings. Recently he started learning to play the violin, which he tells us is super exiting and fun! as well as being a great way to use all that new time during the lockdown wisely.  We are really looking forward to hearing his new music soon and following what he does next.
