15th November 17
On Friday 10 November, the Alpha Scholars and students who are members of the Bigger Picture Society (a Faculty of Social Science initiative) visited the Financial Times head office for a series of workshops on leadership. The value of the day cannot be overstated. The final session was led by the Mr John Ridding, the FT’s CEO.
Here are some comments from the students who attended:
“We had an amazing time! Definitely worth visiting next year.”
– Dayana Chumburidze
“The trip was incredibly insightful and useful for considering future plans and getting career advice. I believe future students would find the experience equally worthwhile. In particular, I felt as if I gained a great deal from having a personal discussions with figures such as the CEO and Managing Director of the company. It was also great to receive tailored advice on how to write a CV from those working in recruitment. Seeing and being in a productive work environment was also a good experience… lovely offices and friendly staff!”
– Cody O’Connor
“I thought it was fantastic: really interesting and a learning experience that provided me with valuable information. I would highly recommend making this an annual visit.”
– Geoffrey Wang
“I think that the trip was exciting and useful. I learned a lot from it and would definitely recommend to arrange it for next year’s students.”
– Adam Linert
