Last Friday, media students from Years 9, 12 and 13 went up to Elstree for an educational tour of Sky Studios. This began with an introduction to what happens on-site at the studios, as well as an overview to the sorts of jobs that are required on a film set. The main task of the trip was to create a short pitch film using an LED virtual filming stage. Everybody learnt about their role in the film crew and how the whole team works together through each stage in a movie production. This was utilised through hands-on experience carrying out film development, which is useful to both studies in school and exposure to how the film industry really works. The trip also included a Q&A with a SkySports television presenter, which was a beneficial insight into another side of the industry in front of the camera as well as behind it.
