Year 9 at DLD College London

4th December 23

I wanted to share a positive update from DLD College London regarding our new Year 9 cohort. Launched in September this year, we have been thrilled with how quickly our Year 9 students have settled into life at DLD, a testament to the inclusive culture and our diverse school community.

However, the real success has been our innovative curriculum, with students taking part in our Urban Schools Project, an initiative that takes students out of the classroom every Friday and into London. These trips are designed to broad students learning experience, helping them to develop skills beyond academia including independence, confidence and communication skills. Experiences have included The National Gallery, Otherworld, National Maritime Museum and Art in the Park.

These trips are also used to inspire and encourage thinking outside the box and it seems it’s a hit with the students, with one commenting

It’s really nice and different because you’re outside but still learning…my favourite trip was Otherworld where we experienced virtual reality. It taught me communication and co-ordination skills.”

If you know of any parents looking at Year 9 options, I hope DLD springs to mind so we can continue to grow this exciting year group in 2024!
