The Year 10 BTEC Sport students recently took a short walk to a new local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club Grapple Zone based on Westminster Bridge Road. This was an opportunity to see how coaches work in a unique sport such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as learning new skills, rules and techniques.
The students took to it right away especially, with students enthusiastically offering to help Coach Courtney with some demo’s. Students learned about the many benefits of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from the full body physical workout, self-defence skills and the importance of respect.
We are looking at the possibility of adding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to our co-curricular offering in the future so watch this space! Huge thank you to Coach Courtney and Safeer who were very welcoming and have created a professional and safe environment for both beginners and experts.
