20th January 23
As the cold weather continues to make for a chilly start to the day, the heat has been ramping up this week for our BTEC students, as their public examinations continue, hot on the heels of last term’s IFP examinations. Lots of revision has gone into ensuring students are well-placed to deliver their best and we wish them all good luck for the results, in due course. The remaining years have either milestones or mock examinations in the next few weeks.
This weekend sees the Chinese and Lunar New Year – with a diverse student (and staff!) body, with students from 58 different nationalities, we know the importance of key festivals, especially for those boarders far from home. I am looking forward to the special menu in the Global Kitchen, and to celebrating some of the traditions with those of our students celebrating this weekend. It was lovely to see students decorating the school in anticipation of the Year of the Rabbit.
Finally, with my ‘Behaviour’ hat on – I would strongly encourage parents to speak to their child regarding the perils of vaping and energy drinks, which are sadly on the rise nationally. As a no-smoking site, cigarettes and vapes are banned on the school site and we heavily discourage students trying them, as well as students facing sanctions and possibly fines, should they break these rules. Energy drinks are also something we would suggest are best avoided; students would be better served with a good night’s sleep and a well-balanced diet. Please do have these conversations with your child – the more voices a teenager hears, the better!
Have a great weekend
