At DLD College London, we put a huge importance on the value of supporting charities and we encourage our students to give back where they can. Christmas is such an important time for so many charities who need the funds more than ever to make sure that children and families are looked after at this time of year.
In an effort to give back to others this Christmas, DLD signed up to be a part of the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, also known as the shoebox appeal. The charity asks for donations of filled shoeboxes including appropriate gifts for children such as toys, books, hats and gloves, and other practical items that they may need. The students get to chose a gender and age range that they want to create a box for, and then fill it accordingly. Students then included a photo and a card wishing the recipient a Merry Christmas and telling them a little bit about who their gift is from.
After packing the boxes, and wrapping them up. We took the boxes to a local collection point at St Andrews Church, Chelsea.
Student Council member Anabella (featured below) has been recognised for how extremely generous she has been this Christmas, she has already donated to several other charities so far this term, gifting toys and sending funds to make sure that other children are not forgotten this Christmas. Well done Annabella – we are really proud of how kind you are.
