It seems like only yesterday that we were welcoming back our students from half term and now as I write this latest FTP update, it is less than three weeks until we break up for Christmas! The speed in which we hurtle towards the Christmas break is in part due to the wide variety of activities that our students have engaged with both in and out of the classroom. The great thing about our school being based in the heart of London is that when we say, “London is our Classroom”, we really mean it! Only last week I found myself walking the short distance to the BFI with our Film Students to hear one of my writing and directing idols, Joe Cornish talk about the production process of his latest upcoming Netflix show – “Lockwood and Co.” A unique learning opportunity for our students to hear from one of the greatest in the industry as he also spoke about his own education and what it took to get him where he is today!
Progression has been a key theme this half term with the Year 10 students attending a careers event in Ascot last week and our Year 11 students attending our options fair today. My thanks to Hayek, the student council and our Head of Careers who put on a fantastic student led event which got our students thinking about life beyond GCSE. They were able to find out about our wide range of A Levels, BTECs and IFPs from current students and teaching staff in order to start mapping out their pathway for sixth form and beyond. Parents of our Year 11 students will shortly be sent an email asking them to let us know your child’s subject choices for next year.
Finally, whilst we are on the theme of progression I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our IFP students’ luck in their upcoming exams which take place on the 9, 12th and 13th of December. We know you will have prepared hard for these exams and now is your opportunity to shine!
