Spooky Sociology Trip to Clink Prison Museum

1st November 22

This week, Year 13 and Year 14 Sociology students studying Crime and Deviance, experienced the rich and gory history of the Clink Prison Museum, on the London Southbank.

We learned about the etymology of the name ‘Clink’. Rather chillingly, it originated due to the sound of the blacksmith’s hammer closing the irons around the wrists or ankles of the prisoners. We were shown all manner of medieval torture devices and told some quite gruesome tales about the inmates and their time there.

Atmospheric, spooky but of course – educational!
