The triumphant A Level cohort of Class of 2022, who sat public examinations for the first time as a result of the pandemic, obtained their results this morning. A highly-impressive 40% of grades were awarded A*-A and 70% at A*-B, an increase of 13% and 15% respectively on pre-pandemic (2019) results when students last sat invigilated exams – well above the national average.
Significantly, 14% of A Level students attained three or more A*-A grades, and 38% of students secured three or more A*-B grades. Success was seen across the subject board; Classical Civilisation and Further Maths students achieved 100% A*-B grades, while Sociology, Art & Design, Graphic Communications, Drama & Theatre, History, Politics, Business, Film Studies and Media Studies all achieved higher than 80% A*-B grades.
One high-performing student, Viktor Tretiakov, achieved three A*s in Further Maths, Physics and Russian to go with his A* in Maths from last year. He will now go on to study Mathematics at the University of St Andrews.
