The River Thames outside DLD College London

From the Principal #131

3rd December 21

I hope you are all safe and well. As we find ourselves in December and Britain moves into winter, the weather has certainly turned much colder. As the world reacts to the finding of a new variant of Covid-19 and we find ourselves with a greater use of face coverings, the added layer of protection is also providing a layer of warmth – every cloud has a silver lining! Last winter, the wearing of face masks also saw cold and flu reduced, so we hope for the same this year and that everyone stays well for the holiday season.

As we have just one week left before the end of term, it has been pleasing to be able to reflect on how well the term has gone – looking back on the Student Council’s work and the widening of the House system, through to preparing nominations for next week’s Celebration and Concert. The College is looking festive and we will celebrate Christmas Jumper Day next Friday, 10th December, to conclude the term. We continually look for opportunities to raise awareness and share the success of members of our community, whether that be debating, public speaking, maths challenges or winning the inaugural House Chess, and I look forward to hearing of more successes in next Tuesday’s Celebration; a link will be provided in next week’s FTP, for parents and guardians to be able to watch, too.

I wish you all an excellent final week of term.

Best wishes

James Kidd
Senior Vice-Principal (Pastoral)
