Black History Month Activities

12th November 21

The DLD community came together to celebrate Black History Month in a variety of ways last month. The highlight was the talk given to rising hockey star, Darcy Bourne. We also had a chance to sample delicious foods from different countries in Africa and the Caribbean thanks to the team in the Global Kitchen.

Students at DLD were challenged to create a display to celebrate Black History Month in their different subject areas. This gave them the opportunity to independently explore the contributions made by black people. One of the most impressive and informative displays was in the Science Department. Physicist Dr Mark Richards at Imperial College has co-founded a company that maps air pollution, a topic that it particularly relevant given that COP26 is underway.
