Over last weekend our boarders celebrated Orthodox Easter, also known as Greek Orthodox Easter, and, reviving old school traditions, they hand painted boiled eggs.
We learned that the eggs had to be painted on a Thursday or the Saturday before Easter Sunday, that the first egg has to be painted red and the others in whatever you colour or design you want. We were supposed to have boiled the eggs in vinegar infused water so that the eggs take longer to break… as the person whose egg lasts the longest is the winner… a bit like how we used to play with conkers in autumn.
We learn new traditions from each other everyday in boarding!
