FOOTBALL FOCUS

27th January 21

There are many complexities to the game of Football, however, some of the fundamentals include technique, skill, effort, teamwork, competition and performance. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances we currently face, the team have been stripped of the opportunity to execute most of these fundamentals in any competitive way since September.

So what do you do when you can’t play football, well…you talk about it! That’s exactly what myself and the boys having been doing every Monday at 5pm which would usually be the time we train under the floodlights of Archbishops’ Parks’ hallowed turf. Alas, the positivity, camaraderie and humour continues, if only behind a screen. It’s given me great joy in a time when I can’t be on the training ground or on the side-lines of a match and the boys can’t be in the blue and white of DLD representing their school.

So well done to those who have got involved and been so positive throughout! I look forward to seeing you next week to hopefully discuss a Chelsea F.C win under the new management.

“I feel like the football focus sessions are a great way to stay in touch with the team regularly during the lockdown, and a good way to discuss and hear the rest of the boys’ opinions on football.” Adam K (Y13 Student Council Prefect).
