The River Thames outside DLD College London

From the Principal #75

27th March 20

British schools have never had to work under such challenging circumstances since WW2. With the whole of the UK in lockdown since Monday evening of this week, I have been overwhelmed by the determination and resilience demonstrated by our students and staff. I would like to publicly thank all of my staff, both teachers and support, for their tremendously hard work and focus on providing a first class service to ensure our students continue to receive the Gold Standard of Education that they deserve. The messages I have received to thank us have been overwhelming and I would like to reassure you that we will continue to strive to provide the very best service that we can.

It has been heartening indeed to also receive feedback from students and teachers that their online lessons continue apace and that learning continues, especially important for those who were due to take public examinations and who will now rely on internal gradings and assessments. During these difficult times, routine is more important than ever and maintaining the daily timetable and staying engaged with the students is also important for their wellbeing. We are incredibly lucky to have such a strong community at DLD College and my hope is that throughout these weeks, nobody within our community should feel alone and isolated.

Thank you to everyone – students, parents, staff and Governors. It is a privilege to lead DLD College London during this unprecedented time in our history and I wish everyone a happy, safe and productive final week of term.

Irfan
