BTEC Awards 2017

11th July 17

DLD College London Annual BTEC Awards

The BTEC Awards are an annual opportunity for students, teachers, schools and colleges to be rewarded for their achievements in skills-based learning.

This year the BTEC Awards launched the Showstopper Challenge 2017 which provided an exclusive opportunity for students to put their skills in the spotlight and perform at the awards. Our Digital Media Production students entered this competition by producing a three minute video which was called “why choose BTEC?”

Amazingly they were invited to attend and perform live on stage at the 2017 BTEC Awards which took place on Thursday 6th July at The Royal Horticultural Halls.

On the day of the awards our students were asked to produce another three minute video about the Future of BTEC alongside social media posts that gave backstage access to the event.  The students filmed interviews with Award winners, performers and members of staff.

We are delighted to announce that our students were presented with the Showstopper Challenge Award 2017!

This is the second award that our Digital Media Production course has won in two years and it is another positive validation of the dedication and commitment of everyone involved in making the course successful.

BTEC Course Leader, John Branney commented: “This was an excellent opportunity for the Digital Media Production students to showcase their abilities as media professionals. Having real world opportunities is a significant part of the vocational educational experience so it was a fitting was to celebrate their success. I am incredibly proud of the students involved and they were excellent ambassadors for DLD College London as well as being a perfect example of how successful vocational education can be.

You may have heard a lot about BTEC qualifications but aren’t sure what they are. BTECs are work related qualifications that are an alternative to A-Levels. BTECs provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a key theoretical background. At DLD, we offer courses in Business Studies, Music Technology and Digital Media Production.
