Baroness Perry of Southwark Honoured DLD College London

This morning staff and students at DLD College London gathered to celebrate the retirement of the influential and magnificent Baroness Perry of Southwark.

Baroness Pauline Perry is the colleges’ honorary president and she has shared her invaluable experience and wisdom with the facility during her time at the college.

To show our appreciation of Lady Perry’s dedication to the college a retirement celebration was held in the atrium. She was presented with an inscribed model of the wonderful DLD building by Principal Rachel Borland.

Three very talented students added to the occasion with personal tributes to Lady Perry: Jonathan Henrich played a memorable rendition on the piano, Sam Ranabhat shared Lady Perry’s highly impressive biography and Jacob Nico-Katz delighted the audience with his heart-felt poetry reading.

Lady Perry has had an outstanding career as an educationalist, a Conservative Party Whip in the House of Lords and a member of the House of Lords for decades. She also holds seven Honorary Doctorates and six Honorary Fellowships. Her career began as a teacher and Philosophy lecturer before she joined the HM Inspectorate and became Chief Inspector of Schools.

Her knowledge has been priceless to DLD and the Alpha Plus Group and she will be sorely missed.

Principal Rachel Borland commented: “It was a truly lovely occasion, for the whole college community to acknowledge the huge contribution that Baroness Perry of Southwalk has made to Education and to the House of Lords. We are very grateful for her continued interest and support of DLD College.”
