Art and Design DLD Festive Tree Project

16th December 15

DLD College London Art Project

The Art & Design Festive tree project is DLD Art and Design Students and Staff’s response to the festive season. Although this is obviously a very important time of the year for Christians, it is also a time in our secular society, where those of all religious faiths and non-religious beliefs celebrate by holidaying, having fun, spending time with family and friends, and thinking of others.

The trees were designed and constructed by the staff, and painted by various groups of students. The tree designs were cut from 8’ by 4’ sheets of MDF by the Creative Arts Technician, Ben Clements. One has been painted by AS Art students, one by A-Level students, and one by Foundation students.

The trees are also interactive, you can want write a message to someone special and hang it from one of the trees. The aim of this is to celebrate friendship, care and support for each other within the community of the College.

The three designs were judged by Rachel Borland, the Principal, Peter Hopkins, Head of the Creative Arts Faculty, and Robin Ng, Chair of the Student Council. The first prize went to the Art Foundation group and they were all awarded with an Art Book. Congratulations!
