Yuqian Zhang and Sirui Fang were chosen by their classmates as the best examples of the ASDAN Business and Enterprise Presentations and Posters.
This event was the outcome of a collaborative effort between Academic English and Business Studies teachers who joined forces to create a unique and innovative programme.
This approach is in line with CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology, a new language teaching method that has been gaining traction all over the European Union over the last few years.
The competition was part of a pilot to explore how students can learn English in a practical way through the exploration of entrepreneurship.
Students were required to research an entrepreneur and a business and share their work with their classmates and panel of examiners.
This is first of a three stages process where students would eventually set up their own businesses and work as a team.
For many students, some of whom have only been learning English for a few months, this was the first time they participated in a formal presentation completely in English.
We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and will continue working to build on this first successful attempt.
