DLD College London A Level Film Studies Students in NYU Lecture

This week DLD College London A Level Film Studies students hosted a lecture by Dana Polan, Professor in the Department of Cinema Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts New York. Dana is author of the BFI Classic book about the film Pulp Fiction, which the students are studying as part of the Year 13 component in Experimental Cinema.

Head of A-Level Film and Media, John Branney, was honoured to host the online lecture. “Advances in technology have made these types of opportunities possible and it is great to see DLD paving the way for this type of innovation. Dana was gracious enough to give the students the opportunity to ask pertinent questions around their study of the film and Tarantino’s work. It was a really engaging academic discussion and a fun way for the students to learn more about his writing”.

Film Studies student Alina, who is keen to undertake Film Studies at King’s College next year added “It was great to have the opportunity to connect with an academic based in the US, as they are able to offer a broader understanding of the political and industrial context of the film. It was engaging to hear his thoughts on a film that he had spent a great deal of time closely researching and analysing. This has enhanced my knowledge and understanding going into the exam.”
