Our Year 9 students engaged in a successful cross-curricular project that brought together the Science and Art departments as part of the KS3 curriculum. In a creative and collaborative effort, students explored the structure and function of plant and animal cells by designing and constructing detailed 3D models during their art lessons. This interdisciplinary approach allowed students to deepen their scientific understanding while applying artistic techniques to visualize complex biological abstract concepts.
The collaboration with the Art department not only enriched the learning experience but also encouraged students to think critically and creatively. The project concluded with student presentations, where they confidently explained the components of their models, demonstrating both subject knowledge and communication skills.
