Students Explore the Wonders of Plant Science at Kew Gardens

20th May 25

Students recently visited the world-renowned Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, as part of a science enrichment trip designed to deepen their understanding of plant biology, biodiversity, and conservation.

During the visit, students explored Kew’s vast living collection of over 50,000 plant species, walking through iconic spaces such as the Palm House, Temperate House, and the Princess of Wales Conservatory. They had the opportunity to observe and learn about a diverse range of plant adaptations, ecosystems, and the vital role plants play in global sustainability.

The trip directly supported topics within the science curriculum, including photosynthesis, classification, and the impact of climate change on plant life. Students also engaged with interactive exhibits and scientific installations that highlighted Kew’s cutting-edge research in plant science and conservation.

Science staff praised the students for their enthusiasm and thoughtful engagement throughout the day, “Kew Gardens is a truly inspiring setting for learning. The experience gave students a chance to see science in action and understand how what they study in the classroom connects to real-world environmental challenges.”

Trips like these form a vital part of DLD’s commitment to experiential learning, offering students memorable and meaningful opportunities to extend their academic understanding beyond the classroom.
