The upper school Art competition for the first half of the Spring Term was very tough and it was difficult to choose the winners amongst all the excellent work produced in January. First place is shared amongst three students, Yolanda, Hrista and Nakisha. Yolanda produced a large painting using a traditional Chinese ink painting method on flora and fauna. Hrista explored use of angles in Christian architecture in her beautiful dry point needle print, and Nakisha explored rough and smooth surfaces in seascape charcoal drawing.
A huge congratulation also goes to the Y11 GCSE Art and Design students Kevin, Diyora and Enqui who are sharing second place in the competition. Kevin skilfully explored the life of teenagers through his delicate line drawings enriched by creative use of sawing machine. Diyora experimented with charcoal and watercolour in her large drawing of Westminster Abbey, and Enqui researched Chinese landmarks and patiently created her artwork of a door from the Forbidden City in Beijing using cut rolls of coloured paper.
