The River Thames outside DLD College London

From The Principal #201

1st February 24

James KiddDear Parents and Guardians,

As another busy week comes to an end, including a second week of BTEC examinations, the wintery January weather seems to be edging closer to Spring, with the lighter mornings and evenings having a positive effect on all.

Our PSHE speaker this week, Junior from Higher Education, spoke about the importance of resilience and building this into our daily lives. A lively speaker, the students enjoyed hearing his important message, to complement the support on offer from teachers and our pastoral team. Resilience is a key skill for life, but particularly important as we build towards the summer examination season.

For those carrying on their studies with us next year, Progression conversations will soon be started; those in Years 9 and 11 will be looking at options for their courses for next year and I would encourage students to consider both their skills and their passions when making their choices.  Please do take the time to look through course information on our website and get in touch with your child’s Housemaster/mistress for guidance. For Year 12 students – now is the time to start considering university applications and entry requirements.

Finally, with half term just two weeks away(!) a reminder that the half term break starts at 4pm on Friday 9th February and students should be back in from 8.30am on Monday 19th February, ready for school.

Have a great weekend.

James Kidd
