16th October 23
On the 10th of October, on behalf of DLD’s Art & Design Department, teaching colleague, Ben Clements, and I took a selection of some our best student Artworks and entered them into the annual London West Area Independent Schools Association Art Competition at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, near Maidenhead.
I am extremely pleased to report that our submission resulted in 3 awards – all first prizes! This is especially impressive for several reasons. It continues our record of winning awards every year we have submitted since 2011. It is the most amount of first prizes we have ever won in a single year (27% of the 11 artworks submitted in the various categories we were allowed to enter) The number of submissions for each category entered each year has been reduced from 6, to 3, then to only 1 submission in each category only this year. The awards have also been reduced so that this year there are no Second Prizes or highly commended categories.
I am extremely grateful to Ben for all the time and effort he has put in with me to co-coordinate our submission. His hard work and professionalism are greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank my Art Department Colleagues whose collective quality of teaching and their students’ achievements always allows us to submit an extremely strong and varied selection of work.
