DLD Teacher hosts lecture at Marcq Institution in France

Cathy David, Teacher of English and Classics at DLD College London, recently delivered a lecture on Jane Eyre to around 40 sixth form French students at the Marcq Institution just outside Lille. Cathy was invited by the institute’s Head of English Literature, Ivan Nechelput to deliver an hour-long presentation on the gothic, using material from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining with excerpts from the novel and images taken from film versions of Jane Eyre and Rebecca.
There was a Q&A with the students after to help them prepare for an upcoming paper on Jane Eyre and oral presentation on the novel as part of their baccalaureate qualification on literature in early April.
Afterwards, Cathy received a tour of the Catholic private school set in glorious grounds. We wish all those students sitting their exams the best of luck!
