Football: Eton vs DLD

18th November 22

Eton 8 v 2 DLD.
Goals: Jeremiah and Dakara

Tough day at the office for the boys against a physically strong, fit and well organised team.

Good improvements shown especially in terms of tactical awareness and understanding of team shape.

The score line doesn’t reflect the excellent defending of Charlie and Ishaan in the back four and they both put their bodies through it today.

Nothing is certain in life except death, taxes and Dakara getting on the score sheet! He stepped up to score a well won penalty after a good team move and slotted it away bottom left only to have to retake it as AP was standing inside the area! Dakara coolly composed himself again and put it away bottom right this time!

After that is was a long old slog of doing the hard graft and trying to keep our defensive shape however, we could only hold them off for so long and Eton began to play more attractive football moving it across the pitch creating openings and eventually scored a few in quick succession.

We kept going though and managed to get another goal…a solo run from Dakara starting in midfield and driving right before putting an excellent driven cross into the box which Jeremiah calmly put away.

A horrible result on paper but myself and Max took positives from the game and our younger boys will no doubt learn a lot from these experiences!

We’ll regroup and go again next term!
