The Artwork of April is a beautiful round painting by Year 13 A level Art student Maris (Khue), which is based on the different perception of the world by a child and an adult. She explains:
‘In this idea, I want to communicate how adults looked forward to the future modern world when they were young but want to return to their old life in nature after they grow up. I displayed the dull and cramped cityscape where the adults are trapped as opposed to the natural space where the children live. To emphasise the contrast I painted the city in black and white and the landscape in colour. While working on this I enjoyed how the warm colours blend into the cool ones, creating vibrancy and overall harmony.’
