12th April 21
The whole school tuned in live for the presenting of the golden lanyards on Monday to our newly appointed Student Council for 2021-2022. They take over from the outgoing council who have done a brilliant job during this most unusual of years.
Interested students were asked to submit an application. Following this members of staff were asked to offer their feedback focusing on the candidate’s contributions to the College and their leadership potential. Shortlisted candidates were interviewed by not only senior members of staff, but also a group of recent DLD Alumni who had previously been Heads of Student Council. The fourteen members of the council received their lanyards with Charlotte and Jessica leading the team as this coming year’s Heads of Student Council. Charlotte continues in the role from the previous year.
The Council have four main areas of responsibility in the school: Academic; Wellbeing; Community & Charity; and Events. There are two members of the Council dedicated to the roles of Inclusion and Diversity Lead and Digital Innovator.
On Saturday 17th April the group will be attending a leadership day on the South coast of England, which will focus their minds on their roles and their aims for the year ahead.
We wish them every success as they settle into their new roles and will value their continued input to school life which was recognised in the recent Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) Award for Innovation in Pupil Voice this year.
