Lower School House Debating Final

11th January 21

On the final day of term before the Christmas break, Marylebone and Westminster Houses went head to head in the grand finale of the Lower School debating contest. Michelle, Noelle & Mehmet from Marylebone were arguing that the internet does more harm than good, and they were up against Afag, Lola and Vadim who were arguing the opposite. The quality of the debating on show was exemplary and the atmosphere in the room was heated, with both sides putting forward well researched, well thought through and passionate arguments.

The judging panel (Gareth, Janette & Mark) had a hard time deciding on the winners as it was so closely contested, but Westminster ended up winning with Afag getting a special mention for her individual contribution. After a month of preparation, heats, semi-finals and coaching, it was wonderful to see confidence on display from the six finalists, and all students who took part should be very proud of themselves.
