The River Thames outside DLD College London

From the Principal #74

20th March 20

The strength of the DLD Community has never been so evident as these last few days as we all come to terms with the rapidly changing Coronavirus situation. The unwavering support of all the staff at DLD College has been incredible to see and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for everything that they are doing to adapt and ensure that we continue to support our students with their ongoing education. From the news items we are sending you today, you can see how we have been as busy as ever in the College this week, keeping life as normal as possible for our students.

Of course, it is imperative that we stay together as a family as we disperse around the world. Everyone’s wellbeing is as important as ever and with this in mind, again I am overwhelmed with the way everyone has reached out using the various technological tools at our disposal. The first online Boarding meeting took place just yesterday to connect the boarding family worldwide with those remaining here in London, and as our online lessons commence next week I am sure everyone will soon adjust to our new way of learning and connecting. Wellbeing is the beating heart of DLD, which revolves around turning everyday routines into more meaningful moments. Today and over the coming weeks, these routines become more important than ever as we face the uncertainty and impact of this unprecedented situation. Spending quality time with loved ones, learning new skills, looking out for one another and being kind to everyone. Our core DLD values of tolerance, respect and kindness mean more now than ever before.

I wish you all a very safe and healthy time over these coming weeks, mindful of your own wellbeing, and I look forward to when we can reopen DLD College London and welcome everyone back with open (and clean!) arms.

With my very best wishes to the entire DLD family, wherever you are in the world.
