Maasai Talk at DLD

23rd October 19

DLD College London Event: Maasai Guest Speaker

On Tuesday 15th October, we had the privilege to welcome Jonathan Simel, the founder of a Kenyan charity organisation called Maasai Youth Outreach. M.A.Y.O.O. was founded by 24-year old Jonathan, who turned his childhood experience of being an orphan, and living with street kids, into an opportunity to ensure that children of his community are equipped with the tools necessary to lead a successful, enriching life, no matter the circumstances.

Jonathan represents the voice of Maasai youth who are trying to elevate and help their community. Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, lack of education, lack of clean drinking water, and the spread of infectious are just some of the issues M.A.Y.O.O. is tackling with great determination, but very few resources.

After introducing his charity work and raising awareness on the Maasai Culture, a Maasai jewellery sale took place in the Atrium to raise funds for the organisation.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this great cause.
