DLD Business Studies trip to Poland – Day 1

15th March 16

DLD College London Business A Level Students Visit Poland

After an early 8am meet at college and a hearty breakfast in the Refectory, the DLD College London Business Studies trip to Poland departed by private coach towards Stansted airport. After the journey to the airport and a pleasant flight, we arrived in Krakow, the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland, to be greeted at the airport by our local guide, Izabella. Our hotel – the Andels Hotel is a modern, contemporary hotel in the city centre, next to the Galleria. The Galleria is a very large shopping mall which is located by the historic central district of the city, known as Kraków Old Town.

Krakow is a fascinating medieval city, steeped in history and is the former capital of Poland. After an orientation tour of the old town and the market square, the business group become acquainted to their home for the next five days. The streets are lined with restaurants, cafés and quaint craft shops with horse and carriages awaiting their next passengers. Some of the old architecture of the medieval times are clear to see – Krakow truly is a beautiful city. After much deliberation, we decided to have dinner at an Italian restaurant, where each of us enjoy an authentic meal for less than £8.

As day 2 is going to be a very early start, most of the group headed back to the hotel to get an early night. Although a few of us visited the Galleria to pick up a few bits and pieces that were forgotten during packing. Overall, the group is clearly excited to start exploring more of Poland over the coming days.
