ISA London West Area Art Competition Awards Oct 2012

In October, on behalf of the College, I took a selection of our best student artworks and presented them at the London West Area Independent Schools Association annual Art Competition at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.

Although we have won awards each year since we have been entering this was our most successful year, as we were awarded 10 prizes, out of a possible 15! It was an extremely productive day, and meeting colleagues from other colleges was very enjoyable and informative.

It was also extremely interesting to see the richness and variety of the work submitted by the various schools. It was very pleasing to come away with so many prizes in the Art, Sculpture, Photography, Design and Sketchbooks categories! To win prizes in every category we entered is a very pleasing reflection of the strength in depth of the Art at DLD.

I also received numerous highly complementary comments from other teachers about the quality and originality of our submissions, which made me extremely proud of the achievements of students and staff I work with at DLD.

Continuing Success For Recent DLD Art Students

I recently attended the annual Art Foundation Exhibition at Central St Martin’s to see the work of Angelina Aleksandrovich, an A* A level art student who left DLD last summer to take up her place at CSM. It was extremely pleasing to see the strong progression of a recent DLD Art student, and especially pleasing to discover that Angelina passed the course successfully with a Merit award. She has also been accepted onto the Chelsea School of Art BA (honours) to study on the 3 year full-time degree course in Fine Art, starting in September.
